LG Uplus announced on December 15, 2010 that the company decides to award supply contracts to Samsung Electronics, LG-Ericsson, and NSN (Nokia Siemens Networks) for its LTE (Long-Term Evolution) deployment, according to the Reuters. LG Uplus' LTE network is slated for operation in July 2011. Financial details of the contracts are not disclosed. It is reported that another Korean telecom operator SK telecom also plans to start LTE deployment in 2011, while KT schedules to begin its LTE rollout in 2012, according to the same source.
